GJ Cleverley - whole cut slipper with side gusset

For the day I have sampled a whole cut slipper from GJ Cleverley establishment in London. The GJ Cleverley house is merely a bit over 50 years but wow, the shoes from this firm are quite a mouth full. This piece of bespoke suede shoes is made of a one piece of hide, has no brogues, stitchings or any ornamentals on it. Just plain, simple and bespoke. Enjoy and appreciate the simple but artistic rendition of this shoe.

Berluti details and patina

For the the day I have sampled a Berluti creation for it's particular details and patina attributed to this Indio ankle boot. The House of Berluti is well known for its very extreme patina and artistic creations. Fascinating and well executed. On this bootie so much is emphasised on bringing the details out to the surface for exploration and admiration.

I would not be surprised if someone told me that this is the work of one of the patina Masters, be it Master Hom, Master Dandy Shoe Care or even Master Paulus Bolten. Well whoever was the patina Master on this booties, did a great job. Let the pictures speak for themselves and you be the judge.

Antonio Meccariello Calzoleria - Patina of the day

Master Antonio Meccariello Calzoleria is a bespoke boot and shoemaker and a patina artist. A very rare combination at the moment. My observations are: either the artisan is a bespoke shoemaker or a patina artist, never find the two arts in one single individual. But seems that Master Antonio Calzoleria is breaking the trend. I have earlier mentioned the gent here on this blog.

The triple monk bootie, I simply like the patina work colour combination, it's very sober and refined, would not raise eyebrows even in very conservative environments. The patina art will also work beautifully on a Chelsea boot or a whole cut oxford. The triple monk bootie makes me want to own a pair in this rendition. Come next Summer, I am ready with this bootie.

The patina of the day - Children's bootie by Landry Lacour

Gents, I have to admit that for the day I have chosen a theme well known to you, that being the art of patina. But the subject on which the patina is applied on is rather not usual for the blog. So my apologies for that. The subject chosen for the patina is a children's bootie. When I saw this bootie with the patina it brought so much pleasure and admiration of the artists work, that I had to choose it for the day. Hope you will appreciate and enjoy what you are about to see on these little booties. I hope the wearer and owner of the boots gets some huge compliments and draws attention to his booties.

The art work is from the hands of Mr. Landry Lacour, who is pushing the patina art further than what I have observed until now. More shoe & boot patina will follow from Mr. L. Lacour in the days to come.

Enjoy your weekend.

Ready To Wear shoes (Septieme Largeur) Part One

I have today decided to give the blog a different angle when talking classical men's shoes, it is not always about bespoke shoes, as there are many good ready to wear shoes offered by a number of company's.

For the topic of the day, I have chosen Septieme Largeur, a French (Ready To Wear) shoe producer. The shoes from SL are Goodyear welted, the leather is fine. Their models are classical, stylish, elegant and worth the investment.
Furthermore SL offers a customised patina for an additional 50£ (Euros) charge to the shoe price. The patina is breath taking, well executed, and Beau Brummel worth. Would Beau Brummel refuse such an offer? I doubt that. So, Gents, .....

Lets go choose a model, add a patina, then we are ready to show style and elegance.

Please welcome Septieme Largeur and hope you will enjoy their wonderful products.

I would like to populate my shoe wardrobe with some of Septieme Largeur's models, for example the Balmoral boot(s), the bootie and the Balmoral Oxford. A Chelsea boot with patina will top it off. Again, great shoes at an affordable price. Well done SL.
